12 Ways to Destress from Life

I’ve been on the search for the best ways to destress. Trying to balance work life, a social life, and adulthood in general at 25 years old can be quite stressful. By now, you’d think a few years under my belt would make me a pro, but I feel like life is just starting to go in full swing. Oh, is this the infamous #quarterlifecrisis people talk about?

I will be turning 26 years old this year which means I will officially be kicked off my parent’s health insurance. I had to attend my company’s health insurance meeting for the first time yesterday so I can prepare to sign up for my own. Great, that’s more money docked from my paycheck… and I don’t make that much to begin with! I know, I know. I should be grateful for having a full-time job that offers health benefits. But, you know what would make me very grateful? A pay raise. Anyway, enough about that.

Life can be quite stressful at times, but only if you allow it to, and it can be dealt with. No one likes to be stressed nor is it good for you. It can wreak havoc on you mentally and physically. Who wants stomach ulcers and white hairs at 25? Not me. So, if you have been stressed out like me lately, try these tips to destress. They’ve definitely helped me calm down, and it’s much better for my body than having a beer or few every night.

  1. Take a Bath – Bonus: Bath bombs
  2. Read a Book
  3. Go for a Walk – Somewhere Nature-y preferably
  4. Cook or Bake
  5. Do Yoga
  6. Facetime or Call a Friend/Family
  7. Listen to Music – Headphones make a huge difference
  8. Get Your Nails Done
  9. Meditate
  10. Take a Nap
  11. Do a Physical Activity/Workout – My fav has been bouldering lately
  12. Go for a drive
